Florida Whitetail Doe

This doe crossed the road ahead of my truck, so I parked and with camera ready walked along the road hidden by long grass. I peeked, and saw her feeding across the canal. I stepped out. Her head came up and she turned to face me and the high pitched sound of my Nikon working in burst mode. I took more shots, and in an instant she trotted in my direction, but veered to her right at the water's edge where she plunged and then galloped until disappearing back across the road. I wondered why the doe had charged across the canal, and then looking down I saw them, several long, black alligators beneath the surface.
